Como papa del siglo V, St. Leo el Grande reinó durante un tiempo de herejía y división en la iglesia y el mundo. Leo enfrentó estos desafíos con un fuerte liderazgo y un profundo amor por su gente. Cuando Attila el ejército de Hun marchó sobre Roma, el Papa Leo lo conoció personalmente y lo persuadió para que volviera. Los sermones y escritos profundos de Leo, que aún nos alientan hoy, lo llevaron a ser nombrado médico de la iglesia.
