Large Gold Leaf Hand Painted Last Supper

The icon is painted using traditional technique - egg tempera on wood. For the background we use 24 karat genuine gold leaf. Upon request we can do polished gold gilding (burnishing) with an agate stone thereby obtaining a mirror-brilliant and very smooth effect.
The engravings are made entirely by hand using special iconography tools.
The wood board is traditionally covered with a linen cloth and several layers of gesso (levkas). At the end the board is sanded to a smooth finish. After the painting process is completed, several layers of varnish are applied for long lasting protection.
