21 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 21
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 21
SAINT MICHAEL,
PRINCE OF THE ANGELIC MILITIES
Point One
Consider and understand the greatness of the Archangel
Saint Michael, knowing that he occupies the highest rank
in the army of Angels destined for the service of God.
The Holy Spirit tells us in the Book of Daniel that
Saint Michael is one of the first Prince. The
Holy Church repeats this in the office of the Holy
Archangel himself: Prince of the Host of Angels
and adds that the Angels pay homage to him. Sacred
Scripture, while referring to the other celestial spirits
simply as Angels. When speaking of Saint Michael,
calls him, through the mouth of Saint Paul, "Archangel,"
as if recognizing the greatness of his dignity and excellence.
Invoke him, Christian, with fervor; venerate him, love him,
make him your intercessor in the presence of God,
and trust in his kind patronage.
Second Point
The Holy Archangel earned this greatness through the
Zeal with which he defended the adorable name of the
Lord before all others. God desired to be served promptly
and loved above all things, and Saint Michael was the first
to bear witness to his love and the will he had totally
consecrated to God, from the very first moment of his
creation, annihilating himself before the Divine Majesty
with complete submission of his will to the supreme will
of his God and Creator.
He was also the first to surrender himself absolutely
and without reserve to his Lord. Saint Michael had
already been created with greater splendor, beauty,
and enlightenment than most of the Angels, just like
Lucifer; but Lucifer was filled with pride because of his
excellent gifts, while Michael dominated the spirit of
pride and humbled himself all the more, the higher he
was elevated above the other Angels. For this reason
he was exalted above all, because he surpassed all in
the virtues, which he practiced, overcoming himself
and defeating the rebellious Archangel, who,
through his fault, became the Prince of demons.
Learn, from the example of this glorious Archangel,
to resist temptations, to humble yourself, and
to love God above all things.
Example
Another of the principal offices that our ancestors
recognized in Saint Michael was that of guardian
and zealous guardian of our churches. Many times,
this zealous Archangel severely punished the irreverence’s
and faults committed in the temples.
The following story, well known in the Middle Ages and
which we see recorded by various authors, fully confirms
these pious beliefs: A young man named Colibert,
driven by great curiosity, wanted to spend a night in
the church, to observe what was happening in the temple
during the hours of darkness. In vain, the priests tried to
dissuade him from his attempt. Colibert found a way to hide
and remain locked in the church at night. But behold,
around midnight,
Saint Michael, the Blessed Virgin, and Saint Peter
Appeared in the middle of the church. The Archangel
severely reprimanded the young man for his audacity.
Filled with terror, he felt a cold sweat cover his body,
experienced mortal terror, and tried to hide in a corner.
But the Blessed Virgin consoled him, gently rebuking
him and allowing him to leave the temple. Upon leaving,
he fell to the ground as if dead. He repented of his mistake.
Thus he escaped being punished more severely by
Saint Michael.
Final Prayer for Every Day
O God, our refuge and strength!
We supplicantly implore your mercy,
so that through the intercession of the ever-
Immaculate Virgin and our Mother, Mary,
and of the glorious Saint Michael the Archangel,
you may deign to help us against Satan and all other
unclean spirits who infest the world for the
harm of mankind and the ruin of souls.
Cast them into the abyss and remove them
from us forever. Amen.
