32 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 32
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 32
PREPARATION FOR THE CONSECRATION
TO SAINT MICHAEL ARCHANGEL IN
HONOR OF SAINT RAPHAEL
Opening Prayer
God and Lord of Principalities, who, through the Angels
and Archangels, illuminating, instructing, and ordering,
care for the health of men according to the disposition of
Your Divine Will: I offer You the merits of these most zealous
spirits and those of Your Archangel Saint Raphael,
who instructed the young Tobias to know the
medicinal virtues of the entrails of that fish,
and indicated to him the perfect and holy conduct
he should have with his wife Sarah,
to safely obtain the fruit of blessing.
I beseech You to grant me the help and light of this
Holy Archangel to obtain the special medicine for my soul,
the success in the state in which Your most
holy hand places me,
for Your greater honor and glory. Amen.
Saint Raphael bears in his name the title of
physician of the sick, since Raphael means Medicine of God.
The Holy Church, in requesting with maternal tenderness
the healing of her sick children,
asks the Lord in one of her liturgical signs to
send Saint Raphael, an expert physician,
from heaven to cure them of all their ailments.
The Holy Archangel himself made known his skill in the art
of healing when he commanded young Tobias
to preserve the gall of the fish,
designating it as a medicine intended to restore sight to
those who suffered from cataracts.
The truth of these words was clearly manifested
when young Tobias applied the remedy upon returning
to his father's house.
Let us now consider how many ills we are
exposed to during the course of our lives.
Doctors say that our eyes alone can suffer from
more than a hundred different diseases.
Let us judge by this what could happen to the other
members of our body.
Hence, health is considered one of the most precious
treasures one can possess in this world.
Everyone strives to preserve it at all costs,
despite a thousand worries; and if, unfortunately,
it is lost, what do we not do to regain it?
If we have the means, we call the wisest and most
renowned doctors; we write or even travel
abroad to consult the most celebrated specialists:
How much we value our health!
Since this is the condition of humanity,
what more skilled physician could we find for our illnesses
than the Archangel Saint Raphael?
If he undertakes to assist us,
the cure is unquestionable;
for he is not only the physician of health, medicus salutis,
but he is also the infallible remedy in his capacity
as the medicine of God: Raphael medicine Dei.
Why then not promptly resort to the patronage of
Saint Raphael in our illnesses and those of those
who are most dear to us? Let us ask him to assist us
and inspire the doctors who care for us with the
most appropriate remedies for a prompt and complete cure.
Not only should the sick turn to Saint Raphael,
but also the physicians themselves:
let them ask the Holy Archangel to deign
to enlighten them about the nature and origin of their illness,
and to suggest to their intelligence the
most effective remedies.
If it is appropriate to turn to Saint Raphael to
preserve our bodily health or to restore it when we have lost it,
we should turn to him with much greater interest
to preserve the health of our soul, which is the
grace of God.
Let us pray that if we ever lose it,
he will help us regain it through sincere penance,
of which the gall of a fish is a true symbol,
because it is bitter. The Archangel Saint Raphael was given
by Our Lord to the Franciscan nun of Naples,
Saint Maria Frances of the Five Wounds,
to assist her in her illnesses. The Celestial Spirit took
extraordinary care of this, worthy of her respect and her
love for God, who had entrusted the Saint to her.
He appeared to her in the form of a young
man dressed in white and of incomparable beauty.
Maria Frances was amazed and unable to say a word.
The Archangel spoke first, saying to her:
I am Raphael, here in the Most High has been sent to heal
the wound in your side,
which is about to become dangerous.
Renew your trust in God and He will bless you.
The next morning the wound was completely healed,
although a few days later it returned to an
alarming appearance. She felt in her heart such a sharp
pain that she could not move. The Holy Archangel
became her nurse; She would cut the bread for him,
taking the knife from his hands and telling him with
a gracious smile that he was incapable of serving himself.
If he ever tried to lift a chair or any other object
whose weight might hurt him, the Archangel
would come and lift it with his own hand and carry it
to the place where the Saint wished to place it.
Thus did this blessed virgin come to enjoy an
intimate familiarity with the Holy Archangel.
This example teaches us that, just like Saint Raphael,
the other heavenly spirits can be with us in even the
most ordinary circumstances and daily activities of life.
Ejaculatory
Glorious Archangel Saint Raphael,
Sacred Prince of the seven who stand before
the supreme throne of God Himself:
fit is for the glory of His Divine Majesty and
for your honor that I obtain what I desire and ask for,
obtain for me this grace from the Lord; and if not,
change my request and ask for me from God
that which is most convenient for his greater glory,
health, and the benefit of my soul. Amen.
Closing Prayer
God and Lord of Principalities, who,
through the Angels and Archangels, illuminating, instructing,
and ordering, care for the health of men according to the
disposition of Your Divine Will:
I offer You the merits of these most zealous spirits and
those of Your Archangel Saint Raphael,
who instructed the young Tobias to know the
medicinal virtues of the entrails of that fish,
and indicated to him the perfect and
holy conduct he should have with his wife Sarah,
to safely obtain the fruit of blessing.
I beg you to grant me the help and light of this
Holy Archangel to obtain the special medicine
for my soul and the success in the state in which
your most holy hand places me, for your greater
honor and glory. Amen.
