33 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 33
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 33
PREPARATION FOR THE CONSECRATION TO
SAINT MICHAEL ARCHANGEL IN HONOR OF
THE GUARDIAN ANGEL
Opening Prayer
God, our Father, who in your loving providence sends your
Holy Angels to watch over us, hear our prayers,
always defend us with their protection,
and allow us to share your life with them eternally.God,
merciful Father, who in your ineffable providence have
deigned to send your Holy Angels for our care,
grant that those who pray to you may always be defended
by their protection and enjoy their company forever.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
He has given his angels orders to guard you in all your ways.
Give thanks to the Lord for his mercy, for the wonders he
has done for mankind. Now let the Gentiles give thanks,
and let the Lord also say: The Lord has done great things
for them. Lord, what is man that you are mindful of him,
or the son of man that you esteem him so?
You approach him affectionately, you go out of your way
and care for him: You also send him your only Son,
you infuse him with your Spirit, and you even promise
him your glory. You do not want this desire for us to
disappear in heaven; therefore, you send the blessed spirits
to serve us, you assign them our guardianship, and you
make them our guides. He has given his angels
orders to guard you in all your ways.
He has given orders to
His Angels to guard you in all your ways.
What respect this word should inspire in you,
what devotion it should inspire in you,
what confidence it should give you!
Respect, for their presence; devotion, for their benevolence;
trust, for their protection.
Always walk with discretion;
the Angels are present everywhere, in all your ways.
That's what He commanded them.
In any room, in any corner, respect your Angel.
Would you dare to do in their presence what
you wouldn't dare before me? Do you doubt their
presence because you don't see them? What if
you heard them? What if you touched them?
What if you smelled them? Consider that the
presence of beings is not perceived with the
eyes alone. Not everything is within reach of
sight, not even the material!
How much further from all meaning will be the spiritual,
which must be sought spiritually!
Even though He commanded them, we
should not be ungrateful to them, since they obey
Him so diligently and help us in so much need.
Let us, then, be devoted to them, let us be grateful to
such wonderful guardians; let us reciprocate their love,
let us honor them as much as we can and as we ought.
But let us give all our love to the One who,
both to them and to us, has granted us the power to love
and honor, and to be loved and honored.
In Him, then, brothers, let us affectionately love
His Angels as our future co-heirs,
designated at the present moment by the Father as our
guides, tutors, and leaders placed over us.
For if we are now children of God,
we do not yet see Him,
for we are still under tutors and administrators,
like servants. Moreover, although we are so young and
still have such a long and perilous path ahead of us,
why should we have any fear, having these guardians?
They cannot be overcome or deceived,
and even less are those who guard us in all our ways
capable of deceiving us. They are faithful, they are prudent,
they are powerful. Why do we have them? Let us simply
follow them, join them, and we will live in the shadow
of the Almighty.
Think, then, how much you need
this protection and this guardianship in your ways.
Example
From the Acts of the Apostles (12:1-19)
At that time, King Herod decided to arrest some members
of the Church to mistreat them. He had James,
the brother of John, killed by the sword.
Seeing that this pleased the Jews,
he also had Peter arrested.
It was precisely the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
After arresting him, he had him locked up in prison
under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each,
for his intention was to judge him before the people
after the Passover. While Peter was kept in prison,
the whole Church prayed unceasingly to God
for him. The day was coming when Herod was
to have him brought before the prison. That same night,
Peter was sleeping between two soldiers,
bound with two chains, while other guards were
guarding the prison door. Suddenly,
the cell was filled with light: the Angel of the Lord was there!
The angel touched Peter's side and woke him up,
saying, "Get up quickly!" And the chains fell off his hands.
The angel immediately said to him,
"Put on your belt and sandals." He did so,
and the angel added, "Put on your cloak and follow me.
" Peter went out after him; he didn't
realize that what was happening to the angel was real,
and everything seemed like visions to him.
They passed the first and second guards and reached
the iron gate leading to the city,
which opened for them by itself. They went outside
and into an alley, and suddenly the Angel left him.
Then Peter came to his senses and said,
"Now there is no doubt: the Lord has sent his
Angel to rescue me from the hand of Herod and from all that
the Jews were planning against me."
Peter got his bearings and went to the house of Mary,
the mother of John, also called Mark,
where many were gathered for prayer.
He knocked at the door, and a girl named
Rhodes came to answer.
She recognized Peter's voice, and she was
so happy that instead of opening the door,
she ran in to tell him that Peter was at the door.
The others said to her, "You're crazy!"
When she kept insisting, they said, "It must be his Angel."
Peter kept knocking. When they opened the door and saw
that it was him, they were speechless.
He signaled them with his hand for silence,
and told them how the Lord had brought him out of prison.
Then he said to them, "Tell this to James and the brothers.
" Then he left and went to another place.
At dawn, there was no small commotion among the soldiers:
What had happened to Peter? Herod
ordered a search for him, and since they
didn't find him, he had the guards tried and executed.
Then he went down from Judea to
Caesarea and stayed there."
Jaculation
Angel of God, my dear guardian, to whom the love of God
has entrusted me; on this day remain by my side
to protect and enlighten me, to guide and direct me. Amen.
Closing Prayer
Lord God, You created the Holy Angels
for Your Glory, to help us, make Your will known to us,
and guide us to You.
In Your name, we wish to invoke them in our
afflictions and needs. We entrust ourselves to them because
You gave them to us and said that we owe them respect
and obedience; that You would help us if we listened to them.
Glorify Your Angels by heeding the requests we address
to You through their intercession. Hear us promptly,
we beseech You. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
