4 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 4
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 4
Saint Michael Defends the Honor of God
We consider that Saint Michael was horrified to see the impious attack
of the rebel angels, and raising against them the holy banner of fidelity
and justice, with the words "quis ut Deus?": "Who is like God?" He
fought against the infernal dragon and his rebel angels, banishing
them from heaven and precipitating them into hell, earning for this
noble action the singular blazon of Captain General of the armies
of God, which is the first office of Saint Michael, and the
most celebrated title given to him by the saints and the Church,
which also calls him Prince of the Heavenly Host.
What a well-deserved title for such a victory!
And what glory for Saint Michael after such a remarkable triumph!
David returned in great glory after his victory over the giant,
when the women of Israel sang: Saulslew a thousand, and David
ten thousand. But much more glorious did Saint Michael return
to Heaven after having defeated not a thousand, nor ten thousand,
but innumerable Angels, each of whom is a giant of greater strength
than all men.
We too, as children of God, whose honor and glory you defended,
rejoice in having you as our Heavenly Prince, our leader and
defender; we promise to invoke you morning and night, in public
and in private, in temptations and in dangers, at all times and
in all places.
Example
The historian Nicephorus tells us of another famous apparition
of the Archangel Michael.
This apparition was granted to the Emperor Constantine himself.
He saw Saint Michael surrounded by glory and majesty and
heard the Archangel say to him: "I am Michael,
commander-in-chief of the God of hosts. I am the one who helped
you defeat your enemies, who were also enemies of my God."
Constantine, grateful, built two temples near Constantinople in
honor of Saint Michael. In one of them, he built an altar
of extraordinary value and magnificence, dedicated to the
Prince of the Heavenly Host. This temple became famous
for the great wonders that the Archangel Michael worked there.
Final Prayer for Every Day
O God, our refuge and strength! We supplicantly implore your mercy,
so that through the intercession of the ever-
Immaculate Virgin and our Mother, Mary, and of the glorious Saint Michael
the Archangel, you may deign to help us against Satan and all other
unclean spirits who infest the world for the harm of mankind and the
ruin of souls.
Cast them into the abyss and remove them from us forever. Amen.
