26 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 26
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 26
SAINT MICHAEL WILL PRESENT OUR PRAYERS
TO GOD
First Point
Although the Holy Angels, and in particular our
Guardian Angel, pray to God and present our prayers
and other good works to Him, in a special way, it is
Saint Michael who offers to the Lord the prayers we
address to Him. This is what the Holy Church teaches
us, which places a beautiful supplication on the lips of
priests, asking His Divine Majesty that through the
intercession of the blessed Saint Michael the Archangel,
who stands at the right hand of the Altar of Incense;
and through the merits of all the elect, the Lord may
deign to bless the incense we offer in His presence,
and accept its sweet perfume. It is well known that
incense represents the prayers of the Church Militant.
Fix your attention on the good fortune you have in
having the great Archangel accompany your prayers;
Inflame with ardent zeal for the glory of God and strive
to pray with greater recollection, greater faith, and
greater confidence.
Point Two
With special affection, the Prince of the Angelic Host
strives to support our prayers when we address them
to our Lord, asking for mercy for our sins. In the
humble confession of our sins, and in the supplication
we make before confession and Communion, and at
the beginning of Holy Mass, we say thus:
To you, Archangel Saint Michael, we confess that we have
sinned greatly in thought, word, and deed;
pray to God Our Lord that He may deign to grant us
forgiveness. Oh! How much confidence this great
Archangel inspires in our souls, whose greatness in
perfections, zeal, and love obtained for him from the Lord
such a lofty mission!
Invoke him frequently, and wait confidently for his
holy protection.
Example
Saint Paul of the Cross always professed fervent
devotion to the Archangel Saint Michael. This
glorious Saint was persecuted in an extremely cruel manner
by Satan, who ferociously tormented his body and soul.
But what most enraged the evil spirit was the
Congregation that Saint Paul of the Cross was busy founding.
To defend himself from such infernal attacks,
the patriarch of the Passion fervently turned
to Saint Michael and exhorted his children to
continually venerate the great conqueror of Satan.
He even declared him one of the principal patrons of the
new Congregation.
The Prince of the Heavenly Host protected the Saint
and the Congregation in a marvelous way,
even with manifest miracles. And as if this were not enough,
he appeared to the Holy Founder in all the splendor of
his glory. The glorious Archangel solemnly promised
the saint that he would always protect him and that he
would watch over and defend the Congregation of the
Passionists in a very special way. Filled with consolation
and strengthened by this formal promise from Saint Michael,
the saint overcame all the attacks of the devil and
carried out his great work under the protection of
Saint Michael.
Final Prayer for Every Day
O God, our refuge and strength!
We supplicantly implore your mercy,
so that through the intercession of the ever-
Immaculate Virgin and our Mother, Mary,
and of the glorious Saint Michael the Archangel,
you may deign to help us against Satan and all other
unclean spirits who infest the world for the
harm of mankind and the ruin of souls.
Cast them into the abyss and remove them
from us forever. Amen.
