6 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 6
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 6
WISDOM OF SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
Imagine the vast wisdom of Saint Michael the Archangel.
He is the Prince of those angelic spirits who
advance in the knowledge of divine perfections and works.
They are subject to him, by the privilege of his wisdom, by
the superiority of his government and science, and by his
disposition to obey the orders he receives from God;
all qualities that illuminate and instruct the Angels and
men.
The incarnate Word himself allowed himself to be
encouraged with his counsel. According to the opinion
of some doctors, thissovereign Archangel could have
been the one who comforted Christ our Lord in the
Garden, bringing Him a message from his Father.
And Saint Michael undoubtedly deserved this honor,
for the office he performed as doctor and teacher of
the Angels for the honor and glory of his God and Lord.
While flattered by her beauty and enamored by her
splendor, Lucifer, overcome with the very gifts he had
received from the Creator, sought for himself the worship
due only to God and sought to revolt the entire Angelic
republic, the most wise Archangel Saint Michael proposed
to the Angels the greatness of the Divine Being and His
infinite perfections, by which He should be adored, served,
and loved by all His creatures, saying to them:
"Who is like God?" And with his zeal, wisdom, and
eloquence, he kept most of the Angels in subjection to
their Creator, because, as some scholars prove, just as
Lucifer caused the unfaithful Angels to rebel against God,
Saint Michael caused the loyal Angels to remain in obedience.
He has taught many of his devotees extremely important truths
for their salvation. What we must ask is that he teach us to fear
and love God Our Lord and preserve us, like faithful Angels,
in obedience and subjection to the Creator, and that after this
exile, he guide and accompany us to our Heavenly Homeland.
Example
In the year 520, under Pope Saint Gregory I, Rome was afflicted
by terrible calamities. The Tiber had overflowed its banks,
destroying numerous buildings; the plague threatened to
destroy the Eternal City, claiming numerous victims; the
fierce Lombards were bloodying Italy and were determined
to take and sack Rome.
In these terrible circumstances, Saint Gregory, the priests
and faithful, and even the Roman Senate itself, implored
God's mercy for three days with a solemn procession.
At the end of the third day, Pope Saint Gregory saw
a top Hadrian's mound Saint Michael lower his sword
and place it in its scabbard.
It was a sign that divine punishments had ceased. Indeed,
it happened; the plague ended, and Rome was saved.
In the following century, a temple was built on the site of
the apparition, which eventually became the famous Castle
of the Angel and citadel of the Papacy.
Final Prayer for Every Day
O God, our refuge and strength!
We supplicantly implore your mercy,
so that through the intercession of the ever-
Immaculate Virgin and our Mother, Mary,
and of the glorious Saint Michael the Archangel,
you may deign to help us against Satan and all other
unclean spirits who infest the world for the
harm of mankind and the ruin of souls.
Cast them into the abyss and remove them
from us forever. Amen.
