9 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 9
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 9
SAINT MICHAEL'S LOVE FOR GOD
Realize that the first concern of such an exalted Archangel,
to whom many important doctors give the title
of Seraphim, is to love, bless, and praise the Lord in a
sublime way unknown to men. He intones that
mysterious canticle, which always resounds in the vaults
of heaven, called the Trisagion, which the Prophet Isaiah
taught us and which he learned in heaven itself, at the foot
of the throne of God. Let us praise the Lord, who created a
being of such capacity and goodness, and gave him such
charity toward the Supreme Deity.
Saint Michael strives with great effort to communicate this
most excellent charity to all men. And he demonstrates it
ever more in the fulfillment of his office as Seraphim, loving
and praising his Creator above all heavenly spirits.
The venerable Pantaleon says that Saint Michael holds first
place among the thousands and ten thousand thousand’s
of Angels, and calmly, before God, in the company of all the
Angels, he sings that admirable, thrice-holy hymn. This
denotes the great excellence of Saint Michael, since the
other spirits are as if astonished before Divine Majesty
while he, it is said, is not awed before God, which shows
his inexplicable greatness and capacity for divine light.
Example
As soon as Moses breathed his last, Saint Michael ordered
the Holy Angels to take his body and bury it honorably on
Mount Sinai, hiding his tomb from the sight of the Jews, so
that they would not commit idolatry, to which they were so
inclined, worshipping, instead of God, that great leader and
benefactor of theirs whom they had seen perform so many
wonders. And even later, this glorious Prince Saint Michael
waged a great battle against Lucifer, as recorded in the
Catholic Epistle of the Apostle Saint Jude, which states that
the devil strove fiercely to uncover Moses' tomb so that the
Jews would fall into idolatry, offending their Creator and
staining their souls with such an execrable sin.
Saint Michael intended just the opposite; he wanted the
worship of men and angels only for God, their Sovereign
Lord and Creator; He wanted men to be just and holy by
fulfilling divine precepts; and he arranged for the body of
Moses to be honored and his tomb guarded by angels, and
ignored by the Jews, because men quickly tire of what they
have and want what cannot be granted to them, or what is
forbidden by God.
Final Prayer for Every Day
O God, our refuge and strength!
We supplicantly implore your mercy,
so that through the intercession of the ever-
Immaculate Virgin and our Mother, Mary,
and of the glorious Saint Michael the Archangel,
you may deign to help us against Satan and all other
unclean spirits who infest the world for the
harm of mankind and the ruin of souls.
Cast them into the abyss and remove them
from us forever. Amen.
