15 of 33 Day Consecration to St. Michael
Day 15
Begginers Prayer
Having made the Sign of the Cross and
kneeling preferably before the
Blessed Sacrament or the image of
Saint Michael the Archangel,
raising your heart to God, who is present,
and bowing deeply in spirit,
you will say every day:
Act of Contrition
My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,
I am heartily sorry for having
offended You; I firmly resolve never to sin again,
to abstain from all occasions
of sin, to go to confession and do penance.
I offer You, Lord, my life, works,
and labors in satisfaction for all my sins.
Amen.
Daily Prayer:
Lord God of heaven and earth, God of Angels,
Archangels, and Principalities; God of Powers,
Virtues, and Dominions; God of Thrones,
Cherubim, and Seraphim;
who ceaselessly praise and bless
Your Holy Name and fulfill the commands of
Your sovereign Majesty, surrounding
Your exalted Throne, and offering You,
as a sweet-smelling aroma,
the incense of our prayers,
which we now address to You,
we humbly beg You to accept.
We beseech You,
through the glory and intercession
of the glorious Saint Michael,
that You deign to grant us Your assistance,
and keep us safe from the snares,
deceits, and power of Satan and
all infernal spirits.
May God arise, and may His enemies
be destroyed through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord. Amen.
Day 15
SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL, PERFORMER
OF WONDERS
Consider how illustrious Saint Michael is, for according to
Saint Gregory: as many miracles are performed in the
Church, the performer is Saint Michael.
Bearing this in mind, the venerable deacon Pantaleon
makes a long account of the miracles of this Holy Archangel,
and attributes to him all those performed in the
Old Testament.
He was the one who performed the wonders of Egypt to
rescue the people of God; the one who led them with the
pillar of fire through the deserts, and the one who opened
the seas, freezing their abysses into walls of crystal, and
drowned Pharaoh's armies; the one who sweetened bitter
waters, and brought forth springs from rocks, and miraculously
divided the Jordan; the one who brought down the walls of
Jericho, and stopped the sun and the moon at the battle of
Gibeon, who killed so many thousands of men at
Sennacherib, and performed all the miracles mentioned
there.
Consider also, according to the general rule of
Saint Gregory, that whenever any miracle is performed
in the world, it is understood that its execution is carried
out by Saint Michael. Our Lord God has expressed his
desire that we have recourse to his great Prince in all
matters of peace, war, justice, and mercy, with the
innumerable favors he performs through his intercession,
granting to those entrusted to him all kinds of spiritual
and corporal benefits: health, life, honor, riches, children,
wisdom, and, in particular, the virtues, which are the true
benefits, and salvation, which is the only necessary
business and purpose for which we are in this mortal life.
It is easier to count the stars in the sky and the sands of
the sea than the favors and miracles of Saint Michael the
Archangel, and especially with regard to our salvation
and eternal happiness, he provides us with the means
to achieve it, inspiring us to do good, helping us in
temptations, warding off our enemies, and performing,
for this purpose, great wonders and miracles.
Let us take advantage of these means and follow
his wise inspirations.
Example
The early Christians, in the tremendous struggle they
waged to overthrow paganism, always believed that all
Christian victories over hell were achieved through the
mediation of Saint Michael. Therefore, when they destroyed
the temples of Mars, the god of war among the pagans,
they built others in the same places to Saint Michael.
This happened, for example, in Antwerp, Liège, Bonn,
Cologne, and elsewhere. That the magnificent triumph
achieved by the Church over Lucifer was attributed to
Saint Michael, as the minister and executor of divine plans,
is also proven by the countless legends relating to this
subject, which are told in most ancient Christian nations.
The substance of these legends lies in a monstrous dragon,
which infests entire countries and causes countless evils with
its ferocity and pestilent venom. It is an obvious
personification of Satan, that dragon, invulnerable
to all human weapons, but is finally defeated and killed
by Saint Michael, who appears miraculously or is fervently
invoked. These legends exist in Spain, France, Germany,
Poland, and many other countries. Thus, the sovereign
power of Saint Michael over all infernal forces was
recognized in all Christian nations.
Final Prayer for Every Day
O God, our refuge and strength!
We supplicantly implore your mercy,
so that through the intercession of the ever-
Immaculate Virgin and our Mother, Mary,
and of the glorious Saint Michael the Archangel,
you may deign to help us against Satan and all other
unclean spirits who infest the world for the
harm of mankind and the ruin of souls.
Cast them into the abyss and remove them
from us forever. Amen.
