About our dear Saint Maria Goretti: Saint Maria Goretti (feast day July 6) was only 11 years old when she was martyred in 1902 for defending her purity. A young man attempted to assault her, and when she refused and said it would be a sin, he stabbed her multiple times. As she lay dying, Maria forgave her attacker and said she wanted to see him in heaven. Her forgiveness was so powerful that her attacker, Alessandro, experienced a complete conversion in prison. Years later, he attended her canonization ceremony. Maria shows us that even children can be heroes of faith and that forgiveness can transform the hardest hearts.
